They inspired a generation of performers and, along with NWA and Public Enemy are pioneers of the hip hop movement. The Wu-Tang Clan is a gang of street-smart individuals, who spill their rhymes over funky beats and their lyrics are both inspirational, and controversial. People have been afraid to speak their minds for so long and it is so refreshing to hear a different viewpoint being voiced through the medium of rap music. These guys are savvy and sharp, and dress in overtly baggy attire with a hint of ‘bling’. Classic tunes such as ‘Gravel Pit’, ‘Protect Ya Neck’ and ‘Back in the Game’ are absolute works of genius, delivered in Wu Tang’s distinctive style, and so many people have been encouraged to venture into the music industry off the back of these records. Ghostface Killah, Method Man, ODB, the RZA and GZA have all carved out successful solo careers and are lauded as five of the most pivotal artists of their generation. How many times have you willed them to return to British shores and seize the opportunity to witness the masters in action?
Well God moves in mysterious ways and these bad boys are gonna set the streets of Manchester alight when they bring their bad asses to the Apollo on the 25th July. The ‘Killa Bees’-their pack of devoted fans- will be in their element and give these ruffians a hero’s welcome. It really has been far too long. There would be no Plan B, no Tinie Tempah, no Professor Green and certainly no So Solid Crew (probably a blessing in disguise regarding the latter) if the Wu Tang Clan did not exist. It would be a crying shame if you passed up the chance to watch the maestros take the stage and completely blow your mind, so you had better book your tickets quick smart!
