It has been a great year for Manchester music, we have seen former Verve singer Richard Ashcroft return with a brand album, his first in 6 years, there is an Oasis documentary being released in a few months ‘Supersonic’ courtesy of the team behind the award-winning film ‘Amy’. Oasis may not be reforming anytime soon, but the 20th-anniversary release of ‘Be Here Now’ is happening, oh and Liam Gallagher is said to be releasing a solo album very soon. Bez has been strutting his stuff once again for a series of Black Grape gigs, James returned with a new album, and Tim Burgess has just announced a solo gig at Salford Lads Club of all places.
For those of you unfamiliar, Salford Lads Club it is a former youth recreational club in the Ordsall region of Salford. It opened its doors back in 1903, a place for the youths in the area to take part in activities such as football, snooker, table tennis and boxing. Perhaps it is more is there anything you can buy over the counter that works just as good as viagra famous, however, for being the backdrop of the iconic sleeve art for The Smiths album ‘The Queen Is Dead’ which links us nicely to the main part of this article.
As mentioned above it has been a great year for Manchester music, and for fans of Morrisey, it is about to get a little more exciting. The ex-Smiths singer, and to many, the living legend that is Morrisey, has just announced that his only UK date this year will take place at Manchester Arena on Saturday 20th August.
Morrissey is considered to be the most distinctive singer and lyricist of his era. This gig is in support of his last album ‘World Peace Is None Of Your Business’ his first solo release since ‘Years of Refusal’ back in 2009. With this being his one and only UK date, it is safe to say that Morrisey fans will be hitting Manchester in their droves in August. Are you coming up for this show and need a place to stay?
