Cultural Events this June
Looking for cheap hotels in Manchester this June? Look no further than The Mitre! I often find myself daydreaming of escaping for the weekend. Mentally of course I can get carried away, imagining exotic beaches and cloudless skies, but let’s be realistic, that is not going to happen without some serious planning and saving. When my mind is drifting like this, I too often forget that I needn’t jet away to the other side of the world in order to appreciate life again. Sometimes a simple resolution is a city break somewhere in the UK. After such a weekend, I am always refreshed and rejuvenated with a new lease of life and positive energy that lagged behind momentarily. In reality, all I needed was a quick break; nowhere too far and nothing that required putting too much of a dent in my savings.
If you find yourself in the same rut as me this week, then great – well, not great, but great for solidarity and all – it’s easier, cheaper and more helpful to your mental state than you think to visit that city that’s only an hour or two away, you know the one you keep saying you’ve been meaning to visit but just haven’t got round to it yet. Well it’s been five years since you’ve been meaning to now, so I am taking it upon myself to say that this is the end of all these broken promises you’ve been making to yourself. I am naming this week the week of spontaneity. It may be coming towards the end of the working week, but the best kind of spontaneity happens at the weekend anyway.
If money is your main issue, up North is your best bet. There are plenty of cheap hotels in Manchester, a great choice for a cultural city break in the UK and so many events occurring this week and next that you’ll be spoilt for choice.
So have a gander at cheap hotels in Manchester, pack your bags, create a road trip playlist, and before you know it you’ll have taken one from my book and given the spontaneous part of your buy ambien cr online brain some well-deserved exercise.
Here are just a couple of the happenings in the Northern city starting this week:
Already happening, from 1-5 June is Manchester’s German Bierfest. Not only will you be experiencing the culture of Manchester, you’ll also get a dose of Germany! At a drastically cheaper price too. The fest is located at Albert Square, just a short walk from us here at the Mitre Hotel. Start your day by having some pub grub with us at our hotel’s restaurant and stroll in the (hopefully) sunny weather to the beautiful cobbled square to enjoy the German antics. Our staff will be more than happy to direct you to the square if you’re as bad at map reading as I am.
The Bierfest features traditional German wooden huts with a variety of stalls selling souvenirs, sausages and so on. There is also a beer garden and a 1,200-person-holding tent bar. If you’ve brought the kids with you, fear not, the Bierfest is not only about drinking out of steins, the fest also features a pop up funfair, bull-riding and a shooting hut for family friendly activities!
If the drinking scene isn’t for you and you’d rather get to know Manchester on a more cultural level, next week is the time to be here! For visitors and even locals who’d like to know more about their city’s history, Manchester Histories Festival is taking place from 3-12 June. The festival will host plenty of events from exhibitions, plays, protests and bike rides.
So if you’re convinced by all we’ve got going on in our North city and want to find cheap hotels in Manchester, come stay with us at The Mitre for an action-packed summer city break! We are just around the corner from Victoria train station and only a 10 minute walk from Piccadilly train station. We are also in the heart of the shopping district and have the lovely Corn Exchange on our doorstep which is filled with restaurants of all different cuisines from Indian, Italian, Brazilian and Vietnamese.
