Where to Watch the 2018 Grand National in Manchester
The 2018 Grand National takes place this Saturday 14th April at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool, and for those not able to make it to the race, The Mitre will be showing it live.
The Grand National is undoubtedly the most popular horse race in the UK calendar, with people who aren’t usually gamblers putting a bet on! It has been an annual event since 1839 and its popularity shows no signs of slowing down with over 150,000 racegoers expected at Aintree over the three-day event.
For jockeys and horse owners, the Grand National is the most valuable in Europe, with a total prize fund of £1 million last year. The steeple chase takes place over 4 miles and has over 30 fence jumps. A lot of the fences in the Grand National are much higher than others in similar races, pushing the horses and jockeys to work even harder in order to win. A total of 40 horses will run the course this year, who’s your bet on?
